Kathleen Schmalz
PRESIDENT
Kathleen has an academic background in Integrated Arts Education and has worked at the University, Public School and Community levels in creative cultural exploration. A committed full-time painter, she also understands how to foster activities, events and exhibitions to develop community cultural connections through the arts. Bring your ideas – let’s talk!
Sheryl Parsons
DIRECTOR AT LARGE
Sheryl Graduated from UVIC with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting. Sheryl has been a member of many local art societies, spending most of her time with Coast Collective Art Society from its beginning in 2009 to the closing of the society in 2022 when Arts and Culture Colwood Society took Coast Collective as their Visual Arts Program. Sheryl served on the board for its last 2 years helping with the transition to ACCS.
Now that ACCS has its own Art Centre in Colwood, Sheryl has volunteered for many gallery shifts, organized volunteer teams for hanging and coordinating Art Shows. In the fall of 2024 Sheryl joined the board as Director at Large and is very excited for the future of the Arts and Culture Centre in Colwood on the beautiful Esquimalt Lagoon surrounded with natural parklands.
Christine Millar Chase, B.ED, B.A. Hons, M.A.
ADVISOR
Christine has over 30 years experience in education, and extensive experience as an events coordinator. She has volunteered in a variety of capacities: as an arts docent and program coordinator -Mackenzie Art Gallery, treasurer for youth Tennis Club Regina, convener of interest groups, committee chair, Vice President Newcomers Club of Greater Victoria and Chairperson, Secretary for another local Arts Organization. Christine is now a research and writing consultant and tutors private students. Christine has a B.Ed., and have Honors B.A. and a Master of Arts from the University of Regina.
